Friday night found me watching one of my favorite bad 80′s movies on TV, Just One of the Guys, where a high school female journalist goes undercover as a boy at a rival school proving that she can compete with the guys to win an internship at the local newspaper. Gender roles are explored, high school drama unfolds and hilarity ensues. As a kid living through the 80′s, I didn’t think anything of the movie’s extreme wardrobe back when I was originally introduced to it. Fast forward two decades later and the style has gone through the transformation of being completely uncool and then all of a sudden: totally rad again! With the 80′s still on the brain, I got dressed for a Saturday dim sum brunch in Chinatown. A jeans vest and studded leather shoes seemed like a no-brainer.

Somehow, and I really don’t even know how it’s possible, I forgot that I had these shoes! They were on the top of my shoe rack, right under my hanging clothes and barely visible. Out of sight, out of mind. But now, I’m so excited to have reunited with them!
