Love in the afternoon

This week has been so crazy for me. With an insane (and frustrating!) project schedule at work, dinners, volunteering and of course the fall TV show premieres, I have been a little neglectful of blog updates. But, it’s Friday and I figure what a perfect time to ignore everything else I have going on and just play with pretty photos?

Here are photos of the bouquet a friend and I helped to make for a coworker’s wedding. I don’t even remember all of the blossoms we used, but these here were my favorites – chrysanthemums.

Aerial view of our schmorgesborg of flowers with our central theme of peacock feathers right in the middle.

Tadaaa! The finished bridal bouquet.

The lovely maid of honor’s bouquet.

We had left over flowers, so I just put together really simple boutonnieres while we were packing up.

And that’s it! Who knew an afternoon spent making floral bouquets would be so much fun? I’ve heard from my coworker that her wedding was perfect and I am so happy for her. Here’s to love (and Fridays)!

Craft: Peacock Paradise

Another Pebbles&Thread creation. This one is actually a little smaller than the others, easily an everyday wear kind of piece, but was intended for a wedding. The bride is a friend with red hair and I can’t wait to see how these colors contrasted with her gorgeous locks! Spent Friday afternoon making her wedding bouquets. More photos to come later.

materials: chiffon, silk, peacock feathers, brass medallion embellished with seed beads.

Craft: Another flower for my love

I finished another flower for my cousin’s friend’s wedding.  This one was to be pinned on my cousin’s bridesmaid dress.  It took me a little while to get started with this flower, and the other one I made, because I was running around looking for the perfect material, beads, feathers etc.  But, I have to say that I had so much fun making it.  They end up being really enjoyable to craft and develop.  I hope to have more projects to work on soon.  So, email me if you are interested in a custom piece: metamorphstyle@me.com.  I was daydreaming about starting an etsy shop with my creations and even came up with a name… Pebbles&Thread.  What do you think?

navy and periwinkle chiffon, gray silk blend, ostrich and dyed chicken feathers, pearls, crystals, and silver embellishments.

Craft: wedding hairpiece

I had the honor of crafting a hairpiece for a friend’s wedding over the weekend.  I used silk fabric, feathers, silk ribbon, crystals and pearls.  She looked beautiful and I was so happy she asked me to make something for her special day.  Me, I was just content to eat platter after platter of crab legs at the wedding.  It was a great night!

Photograph Your Life

Just a couple of photos from our last trip East.  Photoshopped a bit and lying in wait for printing and framing.  Though I might need more wall space…

I love the idea of using one’s own photos and memories from travels to decorate living spaces.  Most of our art pieces in the apartment have been personally photographed or created by us.  That was mostly out of necessity and not being able to afford other kinds of art.  But, I do like the idea of personalizing the home. I’ll post more photos of our DIY art in the future!
